Meandering abroad in Sweden

The three meanderers were lucky enough to visit the west coast of Sweden in the glorious summer of 2018. The video below gives you a taste of the area.

Our ten day trip meant flying to Gotenburg Swedens second city, hiring a car and driving north to Mollosund on the island of Orust where we had rented this very nice house for 7 days.
Our home for 7 days.

Day 2
We drove north to a place close to the Norwegian border called Tanumshede to view the UNESCO world heritage site where you can find Bronze age rock carvings spread over three sites as well as an interactive museum.
The very interesting museum at Tanumshede

These carvings were close to water when sea levels were higher

Information boards describe three phases of carving over hundreds years

Very little is known about the meaning of the carvings but this one is thought to be a ship returning with the crew celebrating.

The main form of transport during the Bronze age appears to be by boat.

A tradition in Sweden is FIKA which means a break for coffee and cake which we happily adopted
Day 3
A visit to Smogen 30 miles north. According to the tourist blurb the buzzing boardwalk and hip youthfulness of Smogen must not be missed so we thought we would fit right in.
